Item # 18992, C70250

Copper wires are strings of copper which are formed through a process of drawing and annealing. Because of its conductivity, malleability and ductility, C70250 copper has found a number of uses in the automotive and electrical industries. It is used in projects such as switches and relays, contacts, terminals, stamped parts and semiconductor components. Some of C70250’s features and benefits include:

  • Copper content of at least 96.2%, 2.2% to 4.2% nickel, 0.25% to 1.2% silicon, 0.05% to 0.3% magnesium, a maximum of 1% zinc, with the remainder being traces of other elements such as lead or manganese.

  • C70250 has an electrical resistance of 40% IACS. Pure copper has a resistance of 0.15328 Ω (also known as 100% IACS). Copper is the standard against which all other metals are compared.

  • Good resistance to corrosion from the natural atmosphere due to a film that forms over the surface to protect it from further corrosion.

  • Good cold forming, electroplating, soft soldering properties, making it useful for installation in electrical components.

  • Non-magnetic properties that help prevent magnetic interference in sensitive electronic parts.

  • Melting point of 1,967°F (1,075°C). C70250 can be used in environments with higher temperatures without melting.

  • Tensile strength of 131 MPa (19,000 ksi).
