Aluminum Alloy 7149 is a wrought zinc-aluminum alloy composed of a maximum of 85.9% aluminum, 8.2% zinc, 2.9% magnesium, 1.9% copper, and 0.2% or less of a number of other elements. Aluminum Alloy 7149 is flexible, lightweight, and very durable. An excellent thermal conductor, the material is heat treatable and can be processed hot, and, unlike other aluminum alloys, is virtually rust and corrosion free. These characteristics make Aluminum Alloy 7149 extremely suitable to aerospace and defense applications.
