A wrought aluminum-magnesium alloy, Aluminum Alloy 5456 is chemically similar to Aluminum Alloy 5356, but is used in structural applications as opposed to as filler during welding. Aluminum Alloy 5456 remains easily weldable despite its high strength. Cold working processes, such as extrusion and rolling, are ideal forming processes and create tempers that increase the metal’s strength. Continental Steel & Tube Company stocks Aluminum Alloy 5456 in tee bar form, as well as in channel, angle, and beam form.
